Just 2 1/2 months ahead of their World Cup opening game, Ghana fired head coach Otto Addo, with a replacement yet to be named.
Ghana, which was drawn into Group L of the World Cup along with England, Croatia and Panama, is on a five-game losing streak that included a 5-1 loss to Austria on Friday. The team was much improved Monday but still lost 2-1 to Germany.
'The Association wishes to thank Otto Addo sincerely for his contribution to the team and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavours,' the Ghana Football Association said in a statement. '(We) will communicate the new technical direction of the Black Stars in due course.'
Ghana is set to open its World Cup run June 17 against Panama at Toronto. The team is scheduled to face England on June 23 at Foxborough. Mass., and Croatia on June 27 at Philadelphia.
